Absolute vacuum meters measure pressure relative to a perfect vacuum, while gauge pressure instruments measure pressure relative to the surrounding atmosphere. Understanding this distinction helps ensure that readings match your process requirements and equipment specifications.

Measurement Range and Resolution
Select a meter with sufficient resolution and accuracy at the pressure your application requires. A wide measurement range does not necessarily provide the sensitivity needed for deep-vacuum testing. Likewise, a display that includes microns does not by itself establish suitability for verifying refrigeration evacuation.
Connections and Media Compatibility
Confirm that the probe, fittings and seals are compatible with the gas or liquid being measured. Match the connection type to your system and follow the instrument’s limits for pressure, temperature and exposure to process media.
